The Israeli airline, EL AL, flew to Peru, free of charge, to pick up hundreds of Israeli backpackers who were stranded due to airline cancellations and shutdowns due to COVID-19. This flight was the first of four, which in total brought back 1,100 Israelis. Before takeoff, the pilot made the following announcement resulting in a loud round of applause: “Despite this being the longest flight we have ever accomplished – airborne 43-hours nonstop – it has been our pleasure to bring you home. Together, we will beat Corona and any future challenge.” Following this he asked that all of the passengers join him in a well-known song which they gladly did. It is translated as follows: “The whole wide world is a very narrow bridge…but the main thing is to recall is to have no fear, have no fear at all!”
