Those who knew him were shocked. Those who didn’t know him didn’t even know of him. And that was exactly as he wanted it. But when Alan Naiman tragically passed away at the young age of 63 from an illness, his name became known. And it is now a name that will impact the lives of so many. Following his death, a few wonderful charities focused on helping foster children and sick babies, received $11 million dollars in donations from Alan. For some, the donation was more than their yearly budget. And he specifically didn’t give it until he passed and only left it in his will, as he was not looking for recognition. He simply wanted to do something to help make this world a better place. The Hebrew word for “charity” is “tzedakah” whose root is “tzedek” which means “just” and also “tzaddik” which means “righteous.” There is no question that Alan lived a life dedicated to always being just, doing what was right, and he was most definitely a righteous man who both in life and death has made this world a better place.
