When Simon and Salim Matri, Christian Arab citizens of Israel, showed up to do plumbing work in Haifa, they soon realized it would be about a $250 job. But what they didn’t realize immediately is that they wouldn’t be charging a penny. Once there, they started speaking with the elderly home owner, Rosa Meyer, and after learning that Rosa was a Holocaust survivor, they felt that the least they could do for all the suffering she had endured, was help her with her plumbing needs. So instead of a bill, they wrote on the invoice a traditional Jewish prayer, “Wishing you health to 120 years old. Amount to pay: 0 .”
