The guy was just having some fun when he placed an oversized, stuffed gorilla out of his window. But there are times we do things for one reason, with no idea that anyone even notices, and our small action can have a profound effect on another. While the gorilla was just for laughs, for a little boy with autism, he had found a new friend. And every time he saw that gorilla, it brought him joy. When the gorilla disappeared, the boy was sad and word eventually got back to the man who had placed it there in the first place. Needless to say, he went out of his way to ensure that another stuffed gorilla take its place. It was a seemingly insignificant act, but it showed true empathy and kindness. And while the little boy has no idea of the backstory, there is no question that for all those who know the story and have since learned of it, the life lesson and impact was much larger than anyone could have imagined. The founder of the Chassidic movement, the Baal Shem Tov, taught that we can come into this world for an entire lifetime, just to do a favor for another. So when the opportunity arises, a small act on our part can be huge for someone else!
