It is one thing to tell your daughter how wonderful she is. It is something else altogether to get that child to tell it to herself. Alexandra Elle wants her eight-year-old daughter, Charleigh, to be able to see and acknowledge her talents and abilities. And she is accomplishing that by having her daughter look in the mirror, literally facing herself and seeing her face, while stating positive ideas about herself. The goal is to instill a sense of confidence and strength in her child so that when other’s might tease her or try to get her to doubt herself, she will be able to stand up for herself. In Hebrew, the word for “face” is “panim” which is the root of the word for “internal” which is “pnimiyut.” The idea is that the face is a reflection of what is inside. And it is the reminder that true beauty stems from within. When this little girl looks in the mirror she should see who she is at her core, love herself and her potential, and that should then shine though in everything she does.
