85-year-old Gordon Blakeslee was devastated when he returned home after quarantining with family to discover that his beloved lawnmower had been stolen. It wasn’t just that the lawnmower allowed him to care for his property, but it gave him a sense of accomplishment and normalcy in these tumultuous times. Gordon posted a hand-made sign urging the person who stole his lawnmower to do the right thing and return it. While that unfortunately didn’t happen, someone else did notice. An anonymous donor bought Gordon a brand-new model of his lawnmower and the Broome County Sheriff’s Office brought it to him. Needless to say, he is thrilled and this anonymous donor was not only extremely generous but he provided a kindness that impacts all who hear this story.
