When inmates Terry Loveless, Walter Whitehead and Mitchell Smalls were asked why they helped a deputy who was unconscious, they all responded that they knew he would have done the same for them. It is easy to jump to conclusions or assume that given the opportunity to secure a weapon or possible escape, these men would have done so. But they didn’t. And they showed the utmost care and respect to someone who had always done the same for them…
“We are deeply appreciative to these three inmates for the courage, determination and kindness they displayed when they came to the rescue of our deputy who recently suffered a medical emergency while supervising a jail housing unit.
