This man served his country. He dedicated his life to saving others. And as an elderly man, he is the most vulnerable in our society to COVID. But that hasn’t stopped him from doing everything he can to help his community. The cap he wore said: “United We Stand.” Judaism teaches us that we are “Am Echad b’lev echad” meaning “one united nation with one united heart.” The word for “united” has the same numerical equivalent as the word for “love” because giving and receiving love unites us, and when we are united, we feel loved and cared for. Thank you to this anonymous donor, this veteran of the Marine Corp, who is an incredible example of love, unity and the Marine’s mission of loyalty.
