The young man sat there struggling to put on his tie. Maybe he had a job interview? Or maybe it was his first day on a new job? Either way, he needed the tie on and couldn’t figure out how to do it. But that was when someone noticed. Adelina Alberghini was coming home from the airpot and saw this young man struggle. A former teacher herself, it was her instinct to jump in and help. So she asked her husband not to make the tie knot himself, but rather to teach him so that next time he would be able to do it himself. And so Al Alberghini did exactly that. You will notice in the picture that Adelina’s back is turned to the camera. The reason is that others noticed as well. But their plan was to video this beautiful interaction and post it as a way to get “likes” through making fun of the kid who didn’t know how to tie a tie. Adelina would not allow such a thing and was blocking the picture. Fortunately Redd Desmond Thomas had the right intentions, and got the shot that was able to show the world this pure kindness. In Hebrew, the word “to teach” is the same word as “to learn” which is the idea that giving is receiving and receiving is giving. And that is exactly what happened. This young man learned to tie his tie, he can now teach that skill to others. And as we all read this story, we should receive the inspiration and be motivated to use it to do a kindness for another!
