Sometimes the small things are the big things. This note is so simple. It probably took only a few seconds. But it will likely be a lesson and reminder that will last a lifetime. It shows that someone stopped what they were doing, looked for a piece of paper, found a pen and scrawled a note, just for the purpose of helping out a stranger. Recognizing that we are not alone in this world, that someone is looking out for us and cares enough to let us know, can greatly impact one’s entire perspective. The note writer had no idea if the car owner was having a hard day, was depressed, was allergic to hornets or would have not cared in the least to encounter one. And when we interact with others, we never really know what is going on in their lives or in their day. But when we are kind. When we care. When we do the right thing because it is the right thing…that is when we prove our humanity. As the Baal Shem Tov, the founder of the Chassidic movement, taught: a person can come into this world for an entire lifetime, just to do a favor for another. Never underestimate the power of your kind deed.
