James Anderson, 52, is a father of five but he takes care of so many more. Since 2017 he has been providing low-cost or free plumbing to those in need in Burnley, England, through his non-profit, Depher. It has not been easy, financially, for him to donate his services. But he gains so much more than he loses. As he says: “To me, debt is debt… I would rather owe some money to somebody and another person be alive and happy and safe.” There is a famous teaching from the Baal Shem Tov that a person can come into this world for an entire lifetime, just to do a favor for another. James is undoubtedly helping those in need in ways he is aware of, and impacting them in ways he will never even know.
