How often have you asked to speak to a manager in order to compliment the employee who was trying to help you? Unfortunately, more often than not, we take that extra minute when it is to complain, but often forego the opportunity to praise. And when someone does their job correctly, it is easy to think that, after all, it is their job. And while that is true, we all want our hard work to be noticed and we all want to be appreciated. But more than wanting that, being acknowledged and thanked for a job well done motivates us to work that much harder in the future. In Jewish Mysticism, every part of our body is related to an emotive energy. Our legs, which propel us forward, relate to two different qualities. Our left leg is connected to that of “hod” which means “gratitude” whereas the right leg is that of “netzach” which means “victory.” The legs must always work together in order to get anywhere. So from this we learn that in order to be victorious, we need gratitude. We both need to be grateful for the blessings we have in our lives, and for others to show gratitude for what we do and who we are. Just take a look at all of those smiling employees, and you can be sure that this small show of thanks will go a long way, helping them be that much more friendly, outgoing, optimistic and grateful for the gratitude they received.
